after priming the surface, i taped off layers leaving some exposed and some covered. this is how i achieve the the layered effect with different colors. it is very time consuming and meticulous work, but it is very rewarding after you take off the tape and see the result. 

this is the tray sitting upside down. 

the surface you see is the bottom of the tray, 

the blue and tan colors are tape. the white portion 

is the exposed part that will be painted.

the patio is serving as my studio. 

it is the best ventilated area. 

the color palette is inspired by nature.

the most interesting part of the process 

for me is the blending and transitions 

of the colors and the outlines 

the spray painting produces. 

layer three on top of the base coat. 

on the first layer i did both green layers. 

on the bowl i began blending the colors 

and doing transitions within the same layer. 

here you can see the yellow green 

change to blue.
